Here at Aeroflow Breastpumps, we are proud to be one of America’s leading breast pump suppliers. While we have already serviced thousands of mothers nationally and continue to do so daily, many of our new mommies come from the state in which our headquarters sits, North Carolina. We see several types of insurances across the board including but not limited to Aetna, United Healthcare, Coventry and the insurance that we will discuss today, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBS NC).
Grandfathered Insurance Plans
When checking benefits of a patient who has BCBS NC, the first thing we need to check is to see if the particular plan is considered “grandfathered” or not. A “grandfathered” plan is one in which it does not follow health care reform that was created by the Affordable Care Act. “Grandfathered” plans do not cover preventive services such as cancer screenings and what you are probably most interested in at the moment, breastfeeding support which includes supplies and counseling.
Breast Pump Coverage
If your BCBS NC plan is non-“grandfathered” then the plan will in most cases offer preventive service benefits at no cost to you and your family. That means a free breast pump! They will cover one electric or manual breast pump per delivery. Plus, if you choose Aeroflow Breastpumps to provide your pump, we will even ship to your front door at no cost. However, one important factor to keep in mind is that Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina will not allow durable medical suppliers such as Aeroflow Breastpumps to ship the breast pump until the baby is born.
If you are worried you will not have your breast pump in time, don’t! While we have to wait until the baby is out and breathing, we can usually ship same day depending on the time of day in which you notify us of the birth, or at least the next day. Good thing our warehouse is located in Asheville, North Carolina and will only take one business day to get to you. That means you could have your breast pump in your hands in no time! Check out the BCBS NC online insurance guidelines to learn more about breastfeeding support for non-“grandfathered” insurance plans.
